Oral Presentation

Hello my lovely classmates.

I bet you all wanna know what I will tell you on my oral presentation. I bet you've checked my blog every single day looking if I have posted something new. Well, finally I am doing it :)

Since I am reading mind blowing book called "I, Robots", I just might tell you something more about robots. How are they made, what type of robots there are in the World and where does the word 'Robot' comes from.

I, Robot - favorite character so far...

At my novel "I, Robot" by Isaac Asimov at the biggining of the book there is only one main character that is why I will tell you about.

Her name is Gloria, and she is a young girl whose best friend is a robot named Robbie. Gloria is a friendly girl who likes to play alot. She lives in family with mom and dad and it seems like she is the only child in the family. Gloria has a big heart because she really loves her robot and thinks of him like a real human being.

Latvian man shortage leaves women lost for love

According to BBC News article "Latvian man shortage leaves women lost for love" (10/12/10) , women in Latvia are having trouble finding a love partner.

The reason for that is pretty sad. Even thought boys are born more then girls in Latvia, the balance shifts dramatically in adulthood because of high early male mortality rate.

Alot of Latvian men die from car driving, alcoholism and accidents in the workplace. Latvian men are likely to be macho which leads them to dangerous and unhealty activities.

And because of Latvian men dieing young, women in Latvia are having problems finding a love partner, because there is just not enought men.

Even thought this article is true, I find it kind of funny :)

Report # 1

I chose a novel called "I, Robot" by Isaac Asimov.

Action takes place in New York City in future not too far from nowadays.

At the begining of the book the main characters are little girl named Gloria and her robot friend Robbie. But already at the begining of the book they got seperated each from other that's why I have a feeling that there is going to be another main character.

Week # 2

2 Israeli soldiers convicted of using 9-year-old as shield

According to Seattle Times newspaper article (October 4, 2010), two Israeli soldiers were convicted of using a 9-year-old Palestinian boy as a shield. These soldiers have ordered the child to check two bags found in the bulding for booby traps.

This article also tells that after boy had emptied the contents of one bag and had problems with second bag, Israeli soldiers shot at the second bag, not worrying about boy's life at all.

Unfortunatly this article doesn't say for how long will these Israeli soldiers spend in prison, but I think it's cruel and unforgivable way to act so they should be punished with life sentence or even death punishment.

1. Atrocity - terrible action, cruel action - noun -  Tri doesn't like atrocities.

2. Wage - sallary, money you get for work - noun - Tri in not getting any wage.

3. Slogan - sign, phrase - Tri is wearing T-shirt with slogan - I like rainbows.

About ME

Hello, My name is Ints and I'm from Latvia.

If some of you don't know where Latvia is, then my suggestion is to look at the map and find it. I can tell you that Latvia is in Eastern Europe.

My native language is Latvian, but I can also speak Russian and little bit English. I hope to improve my English very soon.

As you can see from the picture, I love animals and most of animals love me. Like this doggy. His name is Max and he is adorable.

I also like cooking alot. Non of my girlfriends really knew how to cook, so I had to learn to do it myself. Now I want to study Culinary Arts and become a good chef.
